The Warfare Mastery Institute is proud to announce our first case study e-book and associated online digital lessons on the The Bomber Offensive. The Combined Bomber Offensive was a coordinated effort between American and British bombers and fighter aircraft to attempt to bomb the Nazi war machine into submission. This book attempts to take new, innovative approaches to exploring this classic case study by analyzing how American and British leaders made decisions, solved problems and adapted to changes on the battlefield.

This 1-minute introduction trailer is a preview for the Battle of Britain Decision-Making Exercise (Vignette), one of the lessons that is part of our larger European Air War online course. The lesson uses Outcomes Based Learning (OBL) methodology to put you in the shoes of Hugh Dowding (commander of RAF Fighter Command) and challenge you to solve problems and make decisions.

This short but illuminating strategic analysis uses animated timelines and maps to help you visualize key factors relating to the question: How decisive was the Battle of Midway? While it is clear that Midway was a great victory, did it truly change the course of the war? What might have happened had the Japanese won the battle? This lesson examines such questions and proposes that the Battle of Midway was indeed decisive, but not in the way many people believe that it was.

This short, "spotlight" video showcases the Warfare Mastery Institute's new interactive map and timeline of the Pacific War. Put yourself in the shoes of Hugh Dowding, commander of RAF Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain and make critical decisions to protect your home islands from German bomber attacks. This interactive lesson includes animated maps, diagrams and historic footage to help you see through the eyes of the commander and understand how this historic battle unfolded from the perspective of those who fought it. The lesson comes in video, slideshow and audio versions and is drawn from our European Air War online course.

The Warfare Mastery Institute (WMI) is excited to announce our second case topic which will cover the European Air War from 1939-1945 during the Second World War. We plan to explore classic topics such as the Battle of Britain and Combined Bomber Offensive, as well subjects that are not covered as frequently, such as the evolution of close air support doctrine. The European Air War also provides no shortage of subtopics for more detailed “case studies” and we plan to release a series of more detailed case study courses under the umbrella of this case topic in the future. Such courses will offer valuable lessons for military scholars and professionals alike.

The Warfare Mastery Institute’s first case study will focus on Carrier Tactics in the South and Central Pacific from 1941-1945. The main objective of the case study is to understand what critical factors (or ingredients) contributed to victory in carrier combat. If we were forced to fight a World War II carrier battle again, what key concepts, tactics, techniques, procedures and technologies would give us a marked advantage over the adversary?

The Warfare Mastery Institute (WMI) is excited to announce our first “case topic” which will cover the Pacific Air War from 1941-1945 during the Second World War. This is the first of many case topics we plan to explore. We chose to begin with the Pacific Air War because we believe it offers many interesting lessons that have wide applications to contemporary problems and mission sets. Many aspects of the Pacific Air War remain unexplored by popular or academic writing but could prove very educational for military leaders, national security professionals and serious students of warfare. There are also many good sub-topics for more detailed “case studies” within the context of the Pacific Air War.
